John M. Gaston

John M. Gaston is a lifelong resident of Massachusetts. For many years John worked
as a graphic designer and illustrator in the Worcester/Boston area. Classically trained
at the Vesper George School of Art in Boston, John has fine tuned his skills to
become one of Central Massachusetts' premier artists.

John spent 10 years as the president of the Artist's Guild of Shrewsbury, that he
founded in 1997. An organization that boasted over 75 members upon his retiring as
president in 2007.

John still works in his home studio or in the gallery of Gastonart & Frame where he is
always available to discuss all things art related. John considers himself a "plein air"
painter and prefers to work on site or with live models. One of John's other passions
is music. This is reflected in a series of portraits of rock 'n' roll icons.

John's has many patrons and more than ten of his works have been purchased by
the Shrewsbury Public Library to be part of their collection.

John was recently commissioned to create an original watercolor (above) to be used
as a gift to donors for a capitol campaign at Assumption College. In addition to the
original painting the College also purchase and framed 13 signed giclee prints.
